5 Future Wedding Plans That You Need to Start Right Now

One of my best friends recently got married earlier this year, and it really made me realize that it’s never too early to start gathering future wedding plans (even if I’m not in a relationship yet). So, when the time does come, where I’m actually wedding planning, I’ll have amazing ideas to reference from.

Below are some helpful tips that she has shared with me during her wedding planning process, that has helped her and I hope they help you too.

Future Wedding Plans

1. Visualize Your Wedding Aesthetic

Start by picturing your wedding aesthetic, but stay flexible with that vision.

Do you see yourself walking down the aisle on a beach, in a romantic garden, or a grand ballroom? Are you drawn to glamorous and sparkly, modern minimalist, or a whimsical boho vibe?

Creating a vision board can help you refine your wedding style and bring your dream to life.

However, it’s important to keep a few different aesthetics in mind during the planning process. Especially since you don’t know your exact budget yet, it could end up being higher or lower than expected. This means you may need to adjust your plans. So it’s best not to lock yourself into one rigid vision.

2. Create a Visual Pinterest Board

I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessed with Pinterest! It’s my go-to for creating visual boards for just about everything (from party ideas to bedroom decor, and even wedding planning).

So when it comes to your future wedding plans, you can use it to gather inspiration for bridesmaid dresses, wedding color schemes, wedding dress styles, and trending wedding decorations.

3. Find Ways to Save Money

Look for ways to save money in your wedding planning. This could include having a friend take your engagement photos, exploring DIY wedding decor, and finding a budget friendly venue.

For my friend, one major area where she saved a lot of money, was with her invitations.

Instead of sending physical invitations, she opted for digital ones, where guests could RSVP online.

This decision saved her hundreds of dollars, as she didn’t have to print or mail out invitations. She was then able to allocate those savings toward other aspects of the wedding.

4. Start a Wedding Savings Plan

If you’re in a serious relationship with the intention of getting married, she recommends starting to save as early as possible for the wedding and marriage.

Weddings can be super expensive, and so having a wedding savings account can help ease the stress of planning and cover costs. Saving a little bit here and there, can make a really big difference when you’re ready to start wedding planning.

5. Think Beyond the Wedding

Last but not least, one of the best tips that my friend gave me, was to think beyond the wedding. While the wedding is a fun and exciting event, it’s also important to plan for the marriage itself.

This can include preparing for your future home by thinking about decor, improving your cooking skills with new recipes, and saving money for living expenses. Planning ahead for these things will help set a strong foundation for you and your spouse’s life after the wedding.

Whether you’re dating, engaged, or single and enjoying planning for the future, have fun with it! You never know when your wedding ideas might come in handy down the road.
