What is a Vision Board Party

A vision board party is an event where people gather to create their personal vision boards in a collaborative and fun setting.

While you can host a vision board party at any time during the year, it’s particularly popular around the New Year.

This timing aligns with many people’s desire to set resolutions, establish new goals, and form positive habits for the new year.

How to Host a Vision Board Party

In hosting a vision board party, you only need three main components: space, vision board materials, and refreshments.

Space for Creativity

Kick off your party with a comfortable and spacious environment where participants can freely work and engage in discussions.

Consider the size of your group when choosing a location, ensuring that there are enough tables, chairs, and workspace for everyone.

Whether it’s in your living room, dining room, or even a rented space, make sure it’s well-lit and conducive to creativity and relaxation.

Side note: An excellent alternative to using tables and chairs at your party is to opt for a floor setup.

Picture it like a picnic-style gathering. Where you lay down blankets and scatter floor pillows, allowing everyone to sit comfortably as they work on their boards.

Last but not least, to complete the creation of a fun and creative environment, consider adding background music.

Whether you choose soothing tunes, upbeat tracks, or a blend of both, incorporating music can elevate the overall party ambiance.

Vision Board Materials

Gathering the necessary materials is important to a vision board party.

Here’s a checklist of sample items that you can provide or ask participants to bring:

  • Poster boards, cork poster boards, canvases, etc.
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • Printed Images (Encourage guests to print specific pictures they want to include on their board in advance, and ask them to bring these images to the party.)
  • Scissors (Encourage attendees to bring their own scissors to the event. This way, they won’t have to wait for access to shared scissors, ensuring a smoother and more efficient creative process.)
  • Decorative elements (Stickers, washi tape, and other embellishments)
  • Glue
  • Thumtacks (If working with cork board posters, thumbtacks are a great way to adhere the images to the board.)

Side note: I love using cork board posters because they are reusable each year.

To update the board for a new year, all you need to do is remove the thumbtacks and existing images; then add new ones to your vision board.

Party Refreshments

While the main focus of the party is on creating vision boards, refreshments play a vital role in promoting a relaxed and social atmosphere.

Depending on your preference and the size of your party, you can offer a variety of snacks and drinks. Some popular options include:

  • Drinks
  • Sweet treats (Cookies, pastries, fruits, etc.)
  • Finger foods (Sliders, small appetizers, Chips, etc.)

Things to do at the Vision Board Party

Inspirational Opener

Kickstart your party with icebreaker activities such as: eating and conversing, an opening prayer, short motivational talk, or/and group discussion on goal setting.

Craft Time

Considering that this is a vision board making party, allocate a significant portion of the event to creating the boards.

Create SMART Goals

Once the vision boards are finished, invite your guests to create SMART goals that are aligned with their visions.

Ps: Discuss the importance of breaking down large goals into actionable steps and creating a timeline for achieving them.

Celebrate

Wrap up the party by celebrating the group’s finished vision boards, while welcoming the new year and embracing the exciting opportunities it brings.
